Congress
During the NARIM Congress 2024, visitors were inspired to reflect on their humanity in an increasingly digital insurance industry. A unique combination of digital and personal elements created an unforgettable experience full of reflection and connection.
The customer's question
With the 2024 congress, NARIM wanted to reflect on the progress made after last year’s theme, Transform to Perform. The question was simple: have we taken the right steps? At the same time, NARIM saw the opportunity to think more carefully about how technology and human values can remain in balance, especially in a sector that is rapidly digitizing and integrating new challenges such as sustainability and AI. How does the insurance industry maintain the human dimension in this changing world?
Our proposal
D&B Eventmarketing translated the question into the concept ‘Simply Human’. We created a conference experience in which participants became aware of their unique human qualities. Instead of presenting technology as something overwhelming, we helped participants reflect on how technology enriches the sector and how important it is to retain the soft side, such as emotions and intuition. The conference started with a completely digital, even somewhat impersonal atmosphere, which gradually developed more and more towards humanity and emphasized the balance between technology and human values.
The added value of D&B lay in the power to make participants actually feel what distinguishes humans from technology. By alternating digital elements with consciously chosen human experiences, the participants experienced the difference themselves. In this way, the power of the senses, emotions and intuition was strengthened, so that they not only learned about the role of technology, but also felt how their own humanity is valuable in it. With ‘Simply Human’, D&B offered a profound experience that went much further than a traditional conference experience.
The event
The NARIM Congress started completely digitally, with a robot voice at the reception, hostesses in digital costumes and an AI version of host Nancy Rademaker as a virtual hostess. In this setting, participants were confronted with a world in which the human touch was completely absent. After the keynote by futurist Christian Kromme, who spoke about digital evolution, a visual transition to a human atmosphere followed, reinforced by dance. Then participants went into sessions within the ‘human body’ (such as in the Corpus Museum), such as in the ‘knee’ or ‘intestines’. Here they experienced what intuition, emotions and sensory stimuli bring them in an increasingly digital world. The event concluded with ‘The Best of Both Worlds’, a session in which technology and humanity reinforced each other and the participants learned the balance between them.
The results
After the event, the impact of the event was measured by asking the question: “Did I experience the distinctiveness of humans compared to technology today?” The result spoke volumes: 95.5% of the participants answered yes, confirming the success of the ‘Simply Human’ concept.
