How do you connect team spirit and bring employees together during an anniversary? For DPD’s 30th anniversary, D&B developed the connecting concept *DPD Pakt Uit – Al 30 jaar samen op weg*. With a major event and national Depot Days, we strengthened team spirit, brought employees together and created a lasting impact within the company.
The customer's question
DPD, a leading parcel delivery service in the Netherlands, celebrated its 30th anniversary. Due to the rapid growth and increased work pace of recent years, the organization had to deal with an ‘island culture’. The mutual connection and communication between departments had decreased, which meant that employees increasingly felt like individuals within the company. The goal? Organize a grand anniversary party that breaks through these silos, brings employees together again and expresses appreciation. D&B was given the challenge to create a dazzling and connecting event with which DPD could thank its employees and inspire them for the future.
Our proposal
D&B Eventmarketing developed a strategic plan to strengthen the connection within DPD and break through the ‘island culture’. We focused on three pillars: creating a shared goal, bringing employees together in an innovative way and stimulating lasting communication, summarized in the concept ‘DPD Pakt Uit – Al 30 jaar samen op weg’.
Our added value lay in creating a recognizable and connecting theme, with the cardboard box as a common thread throughout the entire process — from invitation to event. This resulted in a festive, recognizable communication process inspired by the ‘package on the road’ concept, in which employees felt seen and appreciated.
D&B not only took care of the event organization, but also built an experience that strengthened the pride and unity within DPD. By offering strategic advice and a tailor-made execution, we helped DPD strengthen team spirit and anchor a lasting ‘We’ culture in the company.
The event
The highlight of the celebration was the festive event DPD UNPACKED in DeFabrique, where everything revolved around the experience and pride of employees. The evening started with a festive arrival of the DPD van, which drove into the hall live and was filled with dancers, musicians and a ceremonial mystery box. With the opening of the box and a push of a button, the party started. The energetic program offered something for everyone, with performances by artists such as Emma Heesters and Bizzey. In addition to the main event, we also organized the Depot Days, where depots throughout the Netherlands celebrated with food trucks and music, so that every employee could participate in the anniversary party.
The results
To evaluate the impact of the event, we collected and analyzed the reactions of employees. The party was highly appreciated and the sense of pride among employees rose from a 7 to an 8. DPD was very satisfied with the way in which we relieved them of their worries throughout the entire process, from strategic advice and creative concept development to event production and communication implementation. The process resulted in a noticeable strengthening of the team spirit within DPD and gave the anniversary a lasting impact, as a result of which the ‘We’ culture was firmly anchored in the company again.
